It takes approx. 4 minutes to read this article

The fight against coronavirus continues. In recent months, a myriad of restrictions have been implemented in every sector of the economy. Here are the most important guidelines related to passenger transportation

Tough times bring new regulations

The whole world is paralyzed by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to the health aspect, this situation has a huge impact on the functioning of the economy. Virtually every branch of the economy has been hit hard, leading to the bankruptcy of many companies. This is an unusual and extremely difficult condition for many of us

Many strict rules and restrictions have been put in place to minimize the speed at which the dangerous virus spreads. However, it’s not easy to keep track of what’s currently allowed and what’s not – that’s why we’re presenting a collection of the most important passenger transport regulations. This information will be useful for both business owners and people using the services offered.

Public transport is a source of infection

The passenger and freight transport industry has been going through a really tough time in recent times. Restrictions due to the epidemiological emergency have prevented the normal operation of companies, and many have had to suspend or close down their operations. Although the current situation in the country is somewhat better, a large number of restrictions remain and are unlikely to be lifted any time soon. This is a sensible measure to reduce the risk of COVID-19 people who travel by public transport or coach.

Many people are concerned about using passenger transportation services, but a significant number have no other choice when it comes to getting home or to work. In their case, adherence to the rules in force is extremely important, because in this type of vehicles the rotation of people is really high. In such situations, it is not difficult to spread germs that can lead to new cases of illness.

Applicable rules for passenger transport

Safety rules are constantly changing, so it’s a good idea to keep up to date on current restrictions. Guidelines vary depending on the county you are in.

Counties with additional restrictions are divided into yellow and red. In each of them we may encounter different restrictions, and the latest information about them can be found on the government gov.pl portal. Among the basic guidelines that apply nationwide are two basic rules:

  • covering the mouth and nose in the vehicle space,
  • controlling the number of people who travel by public transport.

Covering the mouth and nose in the vehicle space

This obligation refers to the situation in which we can not keep 1.5 m distance between other people. Therefore, when entering a bus, streetcar, coach or train, it is necessary to cover your mouth and nose with a special mask or handkerchief.

Only people who have a general developmental disorder, intellectual disability or have problems with putting on and taking off the mask by themselves are exempt from this obligation. However, some people completely ignore this rule or cover their mouths alone. Please note that the driver of the vehicle has every right to refuse you a ride in such a case.

Checking the number of people being transported

It is the duty of every driver to control the number of people using public transport. Currently, at the same time the number of people using public transport is 100% of the seats or 50% of all the seats (sitting and standing). At least half of the seats should remain free. This rule is valid until further notice.

In the case of the red zone, the number of people transported may not exceed 50% of the seats or 30% of the total number of seats, in which case also half of the seats must remain free.

Additional instructions

If you decide to travel by public transport, it is very important to follow the rules. It is also advisable to have hand sanitizer and gloves. Surfaces such as railings, handrails, seats and door openers harbor bacteria and viruses. A large number of people sometimes unknowingly touch particular parts, thus exposing themselves and others to contracting coronavirus.

There are a lot of products available in the market to help us maintain proper hygiene and keep us safe. During this difficult time, everyone should take the issue of coronavirus pandemic seriously. It is important to remember that by not following the rules in place, we are not only putting ourselves at risk, but also others, which can be especially dangerous for the elderly and sick
